Kamaitachi is the second single from Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's fifth album, Candy Racer released on April 24, 2020 in digital format and accompanied by its own music video.
Background and Release[]
After nearly a year since Kimi Ga Iine Kuretara's release on May 10, 2019, Kyary Pamyu Pamyu first revealed that she and her producer, Yasutaka Nakata had recently recorded a new song titled 'Kamaitachi,' announced to the public during a concert in Tokyo on February 21, 2020.[1] It was also performed to the fans attending the concert as a demo.
Two months later, three different teasers for the music video were uploaded on April 21, April 22, and April 23 respectively.[2][3][4] The very next day after the third teaser was uploaded, the music video premiered live on her YouTube channel, just as the digital single was officially released on iTunes, Amazon Music, and Spotify.[5]
Kamaitachi was included on the tracklist of Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's fifth studio album in 2021.

Trivia[]
- Kamaitachi seems to follow the style of its previously released single, Kimi Ga Iine Kuretara, both combining traditional Japanese instruments with modern electronic music; though Kamaitachi adds more of this element to the music video as well, since the two different Kyary personas represent 'old and new'.
