Kiriko Takemura (竹村 桐子 Takemura Kiriko, born January 29, 1993), known by her stage name Kyary Pamyu Pamyu (きゃりーぱみゅぱみゅ Kyarī Pamyu Pamyu) is a model and singer. Her public image is associated with Japan's kawaisa and decora culture centered in the Harajuku neighborhood of Tokyo. Her music is produced by musician Yasutaka Nakata of electronic music duo Capsule.
Kyary is well known of her iconic single, "Pon Pon Pon" (2011), which got into Japan's Top Ten. Her other singles "Candy Candy" and "Fashion Monster" (both 2012) followed success. Then on, she has released Five full-length albums, Pamyu Pamyu Revolution (2012), Nanda Collection (2013). Pika Pika Fantajin (2014), Japamyu (2018), Candy Racer (2021). Kyary has also released a mini album that acted as her major debut Moshi Moshi Harajuku (2011) as well as a compilation album featuring music of the first 5 years of her career KPP BEST (2016).
Though all of her succes was made in Asia, Kyary also gained popularity in western countries due to videos being viral. Media outlets reffered Kyary as "Harajuku Pop Princess", and she have been photographed for magazines such as Dazed and Confused. In 2013, Kyary signed a distribution deal with Sire Records to release her material in the United States.
